OpenIntel Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) governs your use of the OpenIntel platform (“OpenIntel”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). It forms part of the Terms of Use.
By using OpenIntel, you agree to comply with this Policy.
Purpose
OpenIntel is designed to support lawful, ethical use of open-source intelligence (OSINT).
This Policy ensures that the platform is used responsibly and not for harm, abuse, or unlawful activity.
Permitted Use
You may use OpenIntel for legitimate purposes, including:
research and analysis
due diligence and risk assessment
investigative and journalistic work
corporate intelligence and market research
academic or professional research
All use must comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Prohibited Activities
You must not use OpenIntel to:
3.1 Harm or Harass Individuals
harass, intimidate, or threaten individuals
engage in stalking or surveillance for harmful purposes
target individuals for exploitation, discrimination, or abuse
3.2 Facilitate Illegal Activity
plan, support, or engage in unlawful conduct
assist in fraud, identity theft, or impersonation
bypass legal or regulatory safeguards
3.3 Generate or Distribute Misleading Information
knowingly create or distribute false or misleading intelligence
misrepresent OpenIntel outputs as verified fact without validation
manipulate outputs to support deceptive or harmful narratives
3.4 Infringe Privacy or Rights
use the platform to unlawfully invade privacy
collect or process personal data in violation of applicable laws
attempt to deanonymize individuals where prohibited
3.5 Abuse the Platform
attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or exploit the platform
interfere with system performance or security
use automated scripts or bots to extract data at scale without permission
bypass usage limits, credit systems, or access controls
3.6 High-Risk or Sensitive Use Without Safeguards
You must not use OpenIntel outputs as the sole basis for:
legal decisions
financial or investment decisions
employment or hiring decisions
regulatory or compliance determinations
without independent verification.
Responsible Use of OSINT Outputs
OpenIntel provides information derived from publicly available sources.
You acknowledge that:
outputs may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate
entity resolution may not always be correct
sources may contain conflicting or erroneous information
You are responsible for:
verifying findings before acting on them
using outputs in a lawful and ethical manner
applying appropriate professional judgment
Monitoring and Enforcement
We may monitor usage to ensure compliance with this Policy.
If we determine that you have violated this Policy, we may:
suspend or restrict access
terminate your account
remove or limit access to generated content
take legal action where appropriate
